I just gave rave reviews on all three books of the Siren Novels. Tricia is a very well rounded author. She knows how to reach young adults and adults alike.Tags : Amazon.com: Undercurrent: A Siren Novel (9781606840757): Tricia Rayburn: Books,Tricia Rayburn,Undercurrent: A Siren Novel,EgmontUSA,1606840754,Legends, Myths, Fables - Greek & Roman,Paranormal, Occult & Supernatural,Romance - General,College choice;Fiction.,Sirens (Mythology);Fiction.,Supernatural;Fiction.,Children's Books - Young Adult Fiction,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12),College choice,Fiction,Folk Tales Mythology Fables (Young Adult),Juvenile Fiction Legends, Myths, Fables General,Love & Romance,Paranormal,Sirens (Mythology),Supernatural,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,Young Adult Fiction Legends, Myths, Fables Greek & Roman,Young Adult Fiction Paranormal, Occult & Supernatural,Young Adult Fiction Romance General
Undercurrent A Siren Novel Tricia Rayburn Books Reviews
My Thoughts I really wanted to like this one more than I did. I really thought Siren was a great novel. It was a great debut and just the right kind of water based creature that I tend to love!
We are back with Vanessa and her best friend Paige and boyfriend Simon. The summer is over and things are back to normal. Or as normal as they can be with Vanessa's new-found secret and the obstacles she is facing.
She's struggling to keep Zara off her mind and wondering if she's going to show back up. Most of the book is Vanessa worrying about this.
Vanessa has also developed a deep crazy thirst for salt water. She drinks it constantly, bathes in it as much as she can, and relies on it!
Not a lot happens in Undercurrent really. Vanessa is still dating Simon who she hooked up with in Siren. She's still wondering exactly what they are. Yes, they are dating now but it still felt kind of off to me. I never really felt much towards him in this book. Of course, there is a new boy that interests Vanessa. His name is Parker and he's popular, all the girls like him.
Those who helped once start to turn against her and Vanessa's life starts going down the drain. She finally gains the strength to let Simon go, thinking it's the right thing to do.
Undercurrent just wasn't what I wanted it to be. It was okay. I finished it, it took me a few days, longer than it usually does to finish a book. I have a lot of one sit reads.
I wanted more out of Undercurrent, I wanted the magic I felt as I read Siren, I just didn't get it. Hopefully the next book brings me back to that magic.
Overall It was ok. I loved Siren so reading undercurrent was not what I was expecting. I felt bored within the first chapter. I just didn't get into it. And the plot felt like it was going nowhere for a while. not much action happens in the beginning, it takes a long while for anything to really happen. It was just okay.
Cover Like it, but I still think I liked the cover for Siren more. I do like how she is walking along rocks and water.
What I'd Give It 3/5 Cupcakes

When so many fantasy tales are about werewolves, vampires, and witches, it was refreshing to read a new idea. I like the romantic aspect, but really didn't feel it until the end of the book.
Very awesome series!!! Loved books 1 & 2 & now I can't wait for book 3 to come out!!!! Sweet & inspiring!
I liked it cant wait for the third one. I just feel like this book ended to suddenly and not enough was resolved.
I bought this book for my sister on her birthday, we are both big fans of the series. Shipped on time, in great condition. I'm very pleased.
I loved this book. It had most of what I was hoping would be in the sequel. We get to see how Simon and Vanessa's relationship is going a short while after all the craziness they went through. Vanessa is now a full blown siren and is struggling with unexpected side effects of that. Can a siren have a steady boyfriend? That seems to be the question that carries on throughout this book and will into the next. Vanessa has so much going on in her life loss of a sister, the sirens, her transformation into a siren, and the mystery of her biological mother. She wants to share it all with someone. She wants to tell Simon the whole truth, but she's afraid once she does it'll all be over.
All this made for a great sequel. We finally get to discover more about who her mom is. We also get to see more of what it entails to be a siren. There's also some interesting romance going on with the introduction of a love triangle. One I wasn't sure I loved, but grew on me. I began to like Parker as a character, but I love Simon. I can't wait to see in the next book how this plays out. By the end of the book Vanessa and Simon have quite a bit of things to work through. Ah, msybe if I close my eyes when I open then the next book will be here!
my 10 yo enjoyed the series.
