This is the 3rd book in this series. I mistakenly read this book instead of the 2nd one, so the story was out of order for me. After a few chapters I accepted that the Boyd's had new friends, but didn't understand the back story....when I finished this book, I read the 2nd book, and it all fell into place. Taylor keeps his story moving along at a fast pace. There was sadness in this edition, all while the family and their friends faced an unknown future, that is if they have a future at all.These people at their core (before clinging to their lives) seem like anyone you may have met at some point in your life, and perhaps you have friends like them. I am quite glad I've never had to face any kind of terror and the horror that these folks endured. Taylor allows the reader to watch how his characters react in circumstances of abject fear and panic and of knowing there is nowhere that is completely safe.
