The Dark Prince is the third book in the Dragon Lords series. This is Olena and Yusef's story.

The narrator did a good job of conveying the story & the characters. I followed their narration just fine. It pulled me into the story & enjoyed listening very much!

Yusef knew the moment he laid eyes on Olena that she was his. His attraction was immediate. He loved her red hair & her firey spirit. Olena was not there to be chosen, she was there to hide out for a time until her crew retrieves her, for she is the Captain of a motley pirate crew.

I really liked this story. Olena is a strong woman. She is active and athletic. She is very independent & knows what she wants in life. She's content with her like as a Pirate Captain. No one is going to get in her way if she she wants.

Yusef is very ready for a wife. All those lonely days in the outskirts of the castle is about to change. He likes what he sees in Olena & can't wait to get to know her better. Olena is not shy. She goes after him & tries to seduce him that first night. She is one fiesty gal!!! I loved her gusto & joie de vivre attitude.

But the funny part was that for the longest time, Yusef had no idea what her name was. None if the Royal family did. It was a funny moment Yusef was presenting her to the King & Queen & could not name her. Yusef really loves her & just wanted the chance to show her.

Both of them get injured but were able to pull through. Olena had a secret that Yusef learned about in an intimate moment. For all her independence, this was a shocker.

Due to her upbringing, she's had have a toughness to show that at least externally, she was to be feared. But inside, she's really vulnerable. She really never had a childhood. It was a very tragic childhood with dire consequences. Yusef & Olena learn to trust & be there for each other.

I liked their story. It a great listen! I'm enjoying to this series very much!

I am looking forward to the rest of Dragon Lords stories.

The Dragon Lords series is an entertaining escape to another world with Dragon shifters as the main supernatural characters, along with their reluctant brides - despite the fact that each of their brides came to them via a cargo ship called Galaxy Brides.

I was quite happy to see that Michelle Pillow can write this genre and write it well.

I'm happy to state that this series got better in Book #3 - The Dark Prince. I actually think the two main characters Yusef and Olena are my favorites of the series. I even found myself giggling out loud when through a better part of the story, Yusef still had no idea what Olena's real name was. A space pirate by trade, Olena is on the run and sees her place on the planet as short-lived. And she certainly doesn't see herself as anyone's bride.

Worth noting is that Ms. Pillow's timeline for the first several books in this series is to have them runs simultaneously so while understandable and void of any confusion, the reader receives moments of deja vu in the series as some re-telling from previous stories is intermingled in the current one. But it doesn't necessarily take away from the overall enjoyment of the book.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy romance (dragons) with a touch of science fiction thrown in.
This expanded Anniversary Edition of Dark Prince by Michelle Pillow is very good! Yusef may be one of my favorite heroes that I have read about in a while. Olena, while not a favorite heroine, is a good match for Yusef. Olena is a space pirate, her ship has crashed and she is on the run for her life. Olena finds a way to hide out for a while on a Galaxy Bride's ship, she figures it will be just until her crew finds her and she gets another ship. Yusef, a draig prince, is thankful that his crystal glows when Olena walks off the gangplank of the Galaxy Brides ship. Yusef can't imagine a better match for him than Olena, he is thankful that she wants him in return and removes his mask. After that point, nothing comes easy for Yusef and Olena.
Olena is funny and wise cracking, Yusef is brave and only wants to take care of his new bride. There is a lot of sexual tension between Yusef and Olena, and a lot of hot foreplay. Olena only married Yusef to use him and hide out for a while. Will her feelings change? Will she decide to try and build a life with Yusef or will she run like she has always done?

Prince Yusef of Draig is hoping to find his life mate, what he finds is Olena. Olena is on the run and hitches a ride on Galaxy Brides thinking she can escape, get pampered for a few months, lay low as a “wife” then unite with her crew and carry on as she always has. But darn fate, neither gets what they are expecting, they share an immediate attraction, but they have very different ideas about what to do about it. Olean spurns Yusef constantly and while trying to beat him manages to put her life in danger and he has to save her instead. This is problematic to the very independent Olena who has always taken care of herself (she was raised as a pirate and has never known love due to a very tragic history). She finds herself more than just attracted to Yusef although she tries very hard to fight it, until he is attacked and almost dies causing her to start admitting to herself she wants to stay with him. Like all the Dragon Lords the story is great and intertwines with the other prince’s stories (from different points of view), the characters are easy to fall in love with (especially the clueless, hot guys!), and it’s got enough surprises to make It a fun ride. Love the book and the series!
