This book was not as good, as others in the series. Even though I read the first two books, there wasn't enough intro at the beginning to set up the book. A reader who hasn't read the first two books will be hopelessly lost. The character development for Knox and Wynn could have been much stronger.
Great book. In this one Knox a guardian gargoyle has been sent down to replace the one that was blown up. Brought here by a witch. Who doesn't even know how she did it. Now there is 3 on earth getting ready to battle the 7 demons trying to get out to destroy the world. So far one is out now they need to find the other 4 gargoyles before it's to late.
Wynn acts like a child repeating her dislike of the order and resentment. Not sure I saw any reason Knox should love her. Very abrupt ending and no moment of self revelation that showed any growth in Wynn's part. Tedious enough that I doubt I'll continue to buy the series.
While investigating a potential site where a guardian may be located in Chicago, Wynn Powe is attacked by a security guard that works for the Order of Eternal Darkness (bad guys). Finding nothing but rubble and fighting for her life, she accidentally summons a guardian who saves her. Her mother calls that the police has information about her missing brother. Clues lead them to danger. Knox and Wynn find love and answers to what happened to her brother. A big battle (good vs. evil) at the end. I love Christine Warren books. Her shifter/other series are worth looking into.
Another excellent book by Christine Warren. I hope she does more in this series. I will say I was confused when I read that this was book 3 of a trilogy. The ending left off that there was still some work to do on the evildoers. -) She did bring in the previous characters from the first 2 books so that was fun to revisit with them. She did a great job with her Other series & this one looks every bit as good.
Wynn is a strong witch from a long line of witches and wardens. She always wanted to be a warden, but the wardens rarely let in women. When Wynn awakens a Guardian she is unexpectedly thrown into a temporary warden role. Be careful what you wish for. This was a great story, at times heart breaking, at times sexy, and at times it reached places many women struggle with during their lifetimes, being a woman in a male dominated profession. Wynn is lucky as she had a great support group, other women and guardians going through the same issues, and all of them fighting the same evil.
The premise of this series was a good one but after the first book, it became rinse, dry, repeat. Beautiful, snarky, childish, petulant girl somehow sparks alpha, medieval, black/white thinking gargoyle. No one has training, there are many confrontations with demons and nocturnis and all scramble to keep ahead of evil pope, the hierophant. Could not finish book, will be requesting refund.
